Codes and conventions of newspaper ads





Here I will be looking at different Channel 4 posters to look for codes and conventions of them because we want our documentary to be shown on Channel 4. We did this so that before we started to create our newspaper ad we knew what to and what not to put on the newspaper ad.

Codes and conventions of a Channel 4 newspaper ad:

-The information text always has boxes around it like the one shown above has black text with a white boxes to make the programme information stand out.
-The Channel 4 logo is always in the same place on the poster which is on the right hand in the middle.
-Channel 4 have there own text which they own and cannot be found anywhere. Its always the same text used on there posters. We obviously can't use this text so we are going to look for the closest text to it that we can.
-There is minimal text on the poster so the audience don't get confused.
-Date and time
-Slogan
-Programme name
-One central image which represents the programme in some way.
